Instructions for no-cut light fabric Inkjet heat transfer paper

It will work for dark fabric if you intend to do metallic gold/silver foils transfer

Nov. 26, 2007

Tips:

  • Increase the color saturation via your printer settings.
  • Pick the paper setting that will yield more ink, for Epson, Matte Paper is the choice.
  • Use sublimation ink or heat transfer ink if possible, for better quality and wash performance. It will work with dye-based ink also. Do not use pigment-based ink.
  • Check the mirror image option if you have texts.

Printer settings:

Matte paper, Photo resolution, Saturation +25

Transferring

A heat press must be used.

The printed image must be heat transferred ASAP, no more than 15 minutes based on room temperature.

The product will only work on light color garment.

Recommended steps:

  1. Heat press settings: 360 F, 10 seconds, medium to high pressure.
  2. Pre-press the garment transfer surface, smooth out any wrinkles.
  3. The garment transfer surface must be cool when you are ready to transfer.
  4. Put the printed image face down.
  5. Press.
  6. Hot peel. If you have difficulty to peel, press another 10 seconds, hot peel immediately.
  7. Curing for better wash performance. It is more effective if you use sublimation based ink. Image face up, use a Teflon parchment sheet on top of the image, and press for another 10 seconds, same pressure and heat press temperature.
  8. If you want to add heat transfer metallic gold/silver transfer foils to your image, just use a sheet of transfer foil to cover the transferred image, shining side up, and heat press for another 5 to 10 seconds, cold peel. Yes, you can do that to dark T-shirts also.

Common problems:

  1. There are edges, or hand print left on the T-shirt after the transfer

Maybe you need to lower the heat press pressure, or the image has background colors. One thing you can do is to use a sheet of paper to cut a frame, so the heat transfer paper edge will not touch the T-shirt directly.

  1. Image/picture is not transferred 100%

Possible reasons: color saturation printer settings, heat press pressure, garment transfer surface is warm or hot when you transfer, wrinkles.

If the heat press surface is not flat, you can add a thin foam pad under the T-shirt.

  1. How to transfer a full color picture, such as a full color human portrait

The transferred image of a full color human portrait might not have the same excellent quality as cartoon figures, logos due to the variety of color combination, and thus many different thicknesses of ink layers. Areas with little ink, such as highlighted areas of a face, will be very difficult to transfer.

After all, the no cut paper only transfers the part of image with ink.

Here are some steps you can take to address the issues:

  • Save the picture into GIF format, which will reduce the overall colors

  • Use a graphic program to smudge the highlighted areas a little

  • Prefer darker color than lighter colors

  • Use a brush with water to moisture the highlighted areas in the back of the printed image. Use a light to help to locate the areas, if necessary.

  • Pick the source picture carefully, make proper graphic adjustments, test and enjoy!

Washing and Drying Instructions:

  1. Wait 24 hours before washing.
  2. Wash in cold water with mild detergent and no BLEACH.
  3. Turn the shirt inside out.
  4. Tumble dry with low heat if possible.
